As sports fans, we’re great at immersing ourselves in the minutia of the things we’re passionate about: we can rattle off the bullpen stats of our favorite baseball team or the Yards Per Carry of the second running back on our fantasy football team. This narrow focus can lead to interesting message board posts, but it also leads to fans often being able to take a step back and look at the bigger picture of sports, particularly when it comes to what it means to be a sports fan.
This blog attempts to hone in on particular obsessions and weirdness that comes with being a sports fan. The name of the site relates to a simple question that we have – what makes being a sports fan who can name the jersey number and college of every player on an NFL team any different than a comic book fan who knows the issue number and date of the first appearance of every Batman villain? In the end, they are two groups of people with a lot in common, although neither group would likely admit to it.
